Automatic Redial

Description

This feature allows a subscriber to automatically redial the last number dialed from the subscriber's telephone regardless of the completion status of the last number dialed. If the called line is not available, a queuing process, which may last up to thirty minutes, takes place. When both lines are available, the calling subscriber is notified with a distinctive ring. This feature is only available on single party lines. The called directory number has to be a number on a network that supports SS7

Operation

To activate Automatic Redial:

1. Lift the handset. Dial tone is returned.

2. Dial the Automatic Callback Activation feature access code *69

3. There are two possibilities at this point.

4. If the called party is idle, the call is completed.

5. If the called party is busy, confirmation tone will be heard and the system will continue to attempt to connect to the called party after the calling party goes on hook. When the system is successful, the calling party is alerted by a distinctive ring.

6. If the system or network is unable to complete the Automatic Redial operation, busy tone or reorder/NU tone is given. If the reason the redial cannot be completed is a temporary one (e.g., resources are currently unavailable), busy tone is given indicating that a future attempt may be successful. If the reason is more permanent (e.g., called party is not on a system that supports CCS7), reorder/NU tone is given indicating that future attempts will not be successful.

To cancel Automatic Redial:

1. Lift the handset. Dial tone is returned.

2. Dial the Automatic Redial Deactivation feature access cod *89.

3. Confirmation tone is given and the feature is deactivated.
